BARE METAL STRIPPING.
Strip away the old paint, filler and coatings so the real condition of the vehicle can be seen before the build moves forward.
START WITH THE TRUTH
YOU CAN'T BUILD IT RIGHT UNTIL YOU KNOW WHAT'S UNDERNEATH.
Older vehicles can hide decades of paint, filler, rust, previous repairs and damage underneath what looks like a reasonable exterior.
Bare metal stripping gives us a clean starting point and makes it possible to properly assess the condition of the body before restoration, fabrication, panel work and refinishing begin.
 | A CLEAN STARTING POINT STRIP IT BACK. SEE WHAT YOU REALLY HAVE. Paint can hide a lot. Previous body repairs, filler, corrosion and damage are often impossible to assess properly until the old coatings are removed. Once the shell is exposed, the restoration can be planned around the true condition of the vehicle rather than assumptions. |
WHY GO BACK TO BARE METAL?
REMOVE THE UNKNOWN. BUILD FROM A SOLID FOUNDATION.
Bare metal stripping is not necessary for every project, but on older vehicles and serious restorations it can reveal problems that would otherwise remain hidden until much later.
| EXPOSE HIDDEN RUST Removing old coatings can reveal corrosion that is not visible from the outside. | FIND PREVIOUS REPAIRS Old filler, patchwork and previous repairs become easier to identify and assess. | CREATE A CLEAN BASE Starting from a clean surface makes it easier to plan repairs, fabrication and future refinishing properly. |
VEHICLE COMPONENTS
MORE THAN JUST THE SHELL.

| PART OF THE BIGGER PROCESS NOT JUST STRIPPED. READY TO MOVE FORWARD. Bare metal stripping is most valuable when it becomes the first stage of a properly planned restoration or custom build. Once the vehicle is stripped, the next stage can be assessed immediately — rust repair, fabricated sections, panel correction, bodywork or further restoration. Strip. Assess. Repair. Build. | BARE METAL STRIPPING ↓ CONDITION ASSESSMENT ↓ RUST REPAIR & FABRICATION ↓ PANEL & BODYWORK ↓ FINAL FINISH |
IS STRIPPING RIGHT FOR YOUR CAR?
NOT EVERY PROJECT NEEDS THE SAME APPROACH.
The correct stripping method depends on the vehicle, the condition of the panels, the existing coatings and the direction of the project.
We assess the job first and determine the most appropriate way to prepare the vehicle for the next stage of the build.
BARE METAL FAQ
COMMON QUESTIONS.
DOES EVERY RESTORATION NEED TO GO BACK TO BARE METAL?
No. The amount of stripping required depends on the condition, history and scope of the project.
CAN STRIPPING REVEAL MORE WORK THAN EXPECTED?
Yes. That is one of the reasons for stripping the vehicle. Rust, filler, damage and previous repairs may only become visible once the old coatings are removed.
CAN I HAVE ONLY THE SHELL STRIPPED?
Individual shells, panels and components can be discussed depending on the condition and requirements of the project.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE CAR IS STRIPPED?
The exposed body can be assessed and the required rust repair, fabrication, panel work and restoration stages can then be planned.
